Kenyan business battered by election uncertainty

The views across Lake Nakuru in Kenya’s Rift Valley are spectacular. Giraffes lope lazily through the trees. Monkeys chatter noisily. A family of hyraxes sunbathe on the rocks.

But aside from the wildlife and an elderly Chinese couple snapping photos, the viewpoint in Nakuru National Park is deserted.

Tourists return to Egypt but terror concerns still loom

Egypt’s tourism industry is bouncing back after a prolonged lull due to political unrest and terrorist attacks, according to new official figures.

Tourism ministry officials said that industry revenues were up by 170 percent in the first seven months of 2017, reaching $3.5b, in September.
